A person willing to buy Standard Poodles should make a very careful choice of a breeder. One should always keep in mind that, except reputable breeders caring for the puppies they produce, there are many irresponsible "Poodle Fanciers" who do their job having no idea of the way it should be done. Breeding is not a hobby. It takes years of practice and effort to properly breed a Poodle.
Trust knowledgeable breeders who are always ready to explain why they breed Poodles, what kind of activity their dogs are supposed to be best fit for, what difficulties you may face when raising a Poodle, etc. Do not feel confused when asking questions. There is no reason to consider it bothersome. Treat it as your duty to locate a reputable breeder of Poodles and learn every possible detail from him.
Look through the pup's pedigree and ask a breeder to explain it to you. It is a fact that, if a Poodle pup has champion parents and grandparents, the chances are very high that you will enjoy a champion dog ownership in the nearest future.
